How One Woman Reversed Her Lupus Symptoms with Hypnotherapy and Nervous System Regulation

Is it possible to put Lupus into remission naturally? Can you reverse Lupus symptoms without medication? If you’ve been diagnosed with Lupus, these are questions you’ve probably wondered, and answers you’ve been searching for.

Although there may not be a “cure” for autoimmune diseases like Lupus, there are certainly ways that you can help your body recover from Lupus, putting the disease into remission, and reversing the painful symptoms. It starts with understanding why your body is in dis-ease, and healing the root-cause.

In this post I’ll share a client’s story of reversing her Lupus symptoms naturally using Hypnotherapy and nervous system regulation, and how you can do it too.

Your body is not the enemy. We’ve been taught to dismiss our own healing abilities in place of prescription medication. I’m not here to dismiss the importance of our medical system and the doctors that dedicate their lives to saving others. However, when it comes to chronic illness and disease, we shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss our own, natural healing ability.

A Lupus Recovery Story

When my client first came to me, she was exhausted—physically, emotionally, and mentally. She had been diagnosed with Lupus years ago and had spent most of that time managing symptoms that seemed to come and go unpredictably.

Chronic pain, digestive issues, food sensitivities, fatigue—her body felt like it was in a constant battle. Doctors told her there was no cure, only ways to manage the disease, but deep down, she felt there had to be another way.

She had already tried all the conventional treatments: medications, diet changes, etc. Some things helped, but nothing truly moved the needle. She still felt stuck, trapped in a body that didn’t seem to be on her side. When she came across my work, something clicked. She reached out, and that’s where her healing journey truly began.

The Connection Between Early Childhood Stress and Lupus

One of the first things we explored was how her nervous system had been functioning over the years. What many people don’t realize is that chronic illness isn’t just a physical condition—it’s often the result of a dysregulated nervous system.

For most people with chronic illness, they experienced some form of childhood stress or trauma. Perhaps growing up in a household where you felt unseen and unheard, constantly walking on eggshells to avoid conflict. Or perhaps going through trauma like abuse, neglect, or loss.

Or it could be that your childhood was fine "on paper" but deep down you always felt fearful, shameful, or burdened in some way. All of this leads to a hypervigilant nervous system, always on the lookout for threats or danger.

In my client's case, she grew up feeling burdened, and having suffered from a traumatic experience that she never fully processed. Her body, in response to that early environment, learned to stay on high alert. Her nervous system became stuck in a chronic stress response—always bracing for the next emotional blow.

Over time, this dysregulation can take a serious toll on the body, leading to inflammation, immune system imbalances, and ultimately, chronic disease.

Lupus, like many autoimmune diseases, is often linked to unresolved emotional trauma. The body, in a chronic stress response, cannot function optimally and will mistakenly attack its own tissues.

The nervous system, shaped by years of stress, continues to send danger signals to the body, even when there’s no real danger present. And when the body perceives danger, it can’t heal.

How Hypnotherapy Helped Uncover the Root-Cause of Her Lupus Symptoms

During our hypnotherapy sessions, we worked on identifying and releasing the deeply rooted emotional patterns that had kept her body in a stress response.

Through guided hypnosis, we accessed memories that had been stored in her subconscious mind—memories of times when she felt abandoned, overwhelmed, or powerless. These weren’t just thoughts; they were emotions still living inside her body, creating tension and inflammation.

By revisiting these memories in a safe and controlled way, we were able to shift her response to them, releasing the trapped emotions that had been fueling her illness.

As we continued our work, something incredible happened. She started noticing changes—not just emotionally, but physically, too.

The chronic pain that had plagued her body for years began to fade. The digestive issues that had once left her feeling bloated and uncomfortable became rare occurrences. Her food sensitivities faded and she could explore foods she hadn't been able to eat without pain for ages. Her energy levels increased and, perhaps most importantly, she felt a deep sense of peace she hadn’t experienced in years.

She also noticed a dramatic decrease in her stress levels, both at work and in her personal life. The things that used to trigger her—pressures from her job, conflicts in relationships—didn’t seem to have the same grip on her anymore. Instead of reacting from a place of fear or anxiety, she found herself responding with calm and clarity.

This wasn’t just a temporary shift. As she continued practicing the nervous system regulation techniques we worked on together, her body continued to heal. The symptoms that once defined her daily life became a distant memory.

Why This Works: The Power of Nervous System Regulation for Lupus Recovery

So, why does this approach work when so many other treatments fall short? Because it addresses the root cause of illness rather than just the symptoms.

When we regulate the nervous system and process stored emotions, the body moves out of survival mode. It no longer feels the need to be on constant alert, and as a result, inflammation decreases, immune function improves, and healing becomes possible.

Traditional medicine often focuses on suppressing symptoms, but true healing comes from creating an internal environment where the body feels safe enough to heal itself. That’s exactly what happened with my client—by addressing the emotional roots of her Lupus, her body was finally able to shift out of chronic stress and into a state of repair.

The Takeaway: Your Body Wants to Heal

If there’s one thing my client’s journey proves, it’s this: the body is not the enemy. It is always trying to heal, always trying to return to balance. But when unresolved emotional wounds keep the nervous system stuck in a stress response, healing becomes difficult.

Hypnotherapy and nervous system regulation offer a powerful way to shift that pattern. They help release trapped emotions, rewire the brain’s stress response, and create the internal safety necessary for true healing to occur.

For my client, this was life-changing. And if you’re struggling with chronic illness, know that you are not broken. Your body is capable of incredible healing when given the right tools and support.

Healing is possible. And it starts from within.

Your Turn to Find Relief from Lupus

Stories like this are common. Science is proving that nervous system regulation and healing childhood trauma can reduce autoimmune disease severity and improve outcomes. It’s people like my client that have taken their healing into their own hands that have found just how capable they really are.

Hypnotherapy and nervous system regulation are complementary therapies, meaning they can be done alongside your medical treatments. Not only can you experience a decrease in symptoms, but also an increase in vitality, peace and happiness. This work has only positive side effects.

If this has piqued your interest and you’d like to learn more, you can read other stories of clients healing from things like chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, arthritis, IBS and more. There are even more client stories in my book, The Uncaged Mind which is available on Amazon.
