She had a clear vision of what she wanted. She even knew the next steps and exactly how to execute them. But every time it came to taking the action, something stopped her.
She would procrastinate, second-guess herself, feel overwhelmed, or suddenly lose motivation.
From the outside, it looked like she was lazy or lacking motivation, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth.
Underneath it all, something deeper was happening.
If you’ve ever felt blocked in your business or career and wondered why you can’t just move forward, this story may feel familiar.
When Feeling Blocked Looks Like Laziness (But Isn’t)
Subconscious blocks can sometime appear to be laziness or a lack of motivation, and over time, you might start to believe it yourself. But trust me, I know better.
If you feel blocked from growth in your business or career, maybe this sounds familiar…
Knowing what you want but not taking action
Classic freeze response. In your mind, the next steps are clear as day. But why won’t you just do it?! This can feel so frustrating.
Repeating the same patterns
You know what doesn’t get you ahead, yet you can watch yourself do it over and over again…
Feeling stuck despite effort
You feel like you’re trying everything, but no matter how hard you try, you’re not moving the needle.
Starting and stopping
“Okay, this is it. I’m ready to go all in.” For a few weeks, then something came up. And it’s back to square one.
Fear around failing (or succeeding)
You have a plan, know what you need to do, but then you can’t pull the trigger because, what if it doesn’t work out? (Or what if it does? Yikes!)
Overwhelm when opportunities arise
Some opportunity lands in your lap, and even though this is exactly what you want, it feels so overwhelming and stressful.
This may look like a long list, but they all boil down to just a few core issues.
She Felt Blocked and Frustrated
When we first met, my client described a scenario I’ve seen dozens of times: she freezes up when it comes time to take action, becoming overwhelmed with self-doubt or fear, causing her to make little progress no matter how hard she tried.
Understandably, she was frustrated.
She’d been in business for over ten years. This wasn’t new for her. So why did it feel so hard?
She couldn’t quite put her finger on it. Was it fear of burnout? Was it lack of confidence? Was it a time-management issue? A fear of showing up?
Perhaps it was none of those things. Or maybe all of them. It overwhelmed and confused her to try to make sense of it. And really, it didn’t make sense. She knew what to do. She had the strategy. She had the experience and expertise.
Logically, she should be moving forward, she has everything she needs. Regardless of the strategy and experience, she still felt frozen. Like she just couldn’t take action.
The Subconscious Blocks in Business We Uncovered in Hypnosis
In our very first hypnosis session, we tapped into that feeling. She described it as a fear that somehow, in someway, she felt afraid. Perhaps afraid of failing, or afraid of failing – she wasn’t sure.
The only thing that she knew was that there was a pit in her stomach, and she felt a deep sense of fear.
Because the fear was so irrational, we prompted her subconscious to regress to the root of this emotion to show us where all this fear was coming from.
The regression showed us the root of this irrational fear stemmed from childhood. Her parents fighting would cause her to feel that same pit in her stomach and deep sense of fear. She felt powerless and incapable.
How We Resolved the Root-Cause
Her subconscious block in business was triggering this deep-rooted feeling of helplessness and fear. This is why her body responded with procrastination – it was a freeze response because to her subconscious, this felt as dangerous as those past experiences.
Her subconscious wasn’t trying to hinder her success; it was trying to protect her from something that it perceived as a major threat.
The solution was simple: create safety.
If her subconscious no longer associates business growth with the same powerless and fearful feeling from those childhood experiences, she could feel safe to move forward.
We successfully resolved the fear and helplessness, changing the associations to that memory, and recoding new beliefs in her subconscious.
After just one session, changes were already happening.
What Changed After the Session
My client felt an immediate sense of relief after the session ended. Not only had she resolved emotional turmoil that she’d carried for a lifetime, but she came to a deeper understanding of herself and how her mind works.
Within a week, I received an email from my client. She said already she could sense the positive effects from the session.
Things in her business that would have caused her to feel overwhelm, fear or self-doubt in the past were no longer affecting her at all.
She said she felt more at ease in her business and in her life. She felt more capable when it came to problem solving or taking action toward her goals. Best of all, she said she felt as if it was finally safe for her to take up space. To be seen and heard.
Already after just one session, she could see the tangible effects of resolving the root cause.
What This Means for You
If you keep hitting the same wall, it may not be because you’re lazy or lacking discipline. Sometimes the part of you holding back is trying to protect you from an old pain or a perceived threat.
When that root is resolved, movement can feel natural again.
My client was more excited than ever about what the future held for her and her business. For the first time, she felt like there was nothing holding her back.
If you’re ready to understand what’s really keeping you stuck and move forward in your career, I’d love to help you get to the root of it.
